Kicking Off Summer In The Backyard

I'm not much of an impulse buyer. In fact, some might call me cheap. Every now and then, though, I find myself at Target just throwing stuff in the basket. Last weekend I had just such a shopping trip, and I walked out with the inflatable pool you see below. It was an instant hit with Lily, so money well spent. The video is a little on the long side and you'll have to excuse the shaky camera work and high-pitched mommy voice, but Lily is maxing out on cuteness, so...

Fun updates

Just a couple of fun updates on Lily at 17 months that I don't want to forget.

- When she opens a drawer and pulls two things out, one in each hand, she will close the drawer with her belly.

- She has seemingly random moments when she'll lunge forward with one leg (think yoga warrior pose) and point ahead very dramatically exclaiming something that's obviously very important.

IOU

Here are my IOU pictures and then some. I realized I left out a few updates in yesterday's post. Lily is busting some teeth. Over Thanksgiving her top two started to come in and they gave her hell. To top it off, she had a virus that settled into her chest and restricted her breathing causing her to wheeze. Wheezing is serious for the babes, so I spent the morning of Thanksgiving in the ER. Poor girl had it pretty rough. Since Thanksgiving she's cut a couple of eye teeth and a couple of molars. This teething has caused some night waking that's no fun for Kevin and me. We've gotten into the bad habit of letting her sleep with us. More on that later. On to the pictures.

2012

Here we are nine days into 2012, and I have not posted in nearly two months. That's bad, even for me. If I did the whole resolution thing I might make a declaration like: My New Year resolution is to post at least once a week. But somehow I think a simple promise to commit more time to this thing means more. Plus, Blogger has an app now. So I may be more inclined to whip up some short, spur of the moment posts.

Moving on. Lily is now 14 months old. She changes constantly these days. It's as if she turned one and then went into hyper growth mode. Her walking is solid and her attempts at running are pretty funny. She throws fits now - usually when she's tired and isn't getting her way. She laughs when I scold her. Then I laugh too. We both have work to do in this department.

She talks and talks in her jibber jabber. Intelligible words include kitty, more (along with the sign) and dada. Mama is few and far between, but she lights up when I walk into her room at daycare so I still feel the love.

I was going to close this post with a photo or two, but I'm in bed typing this out on the iPad with no access to photos within arms reach...and I ain't gettin' up. Will post tomorrow.
