HAPPY HALLOWEEN!

 

Pumpkin time!

I thought about trekking out to a pumpkin patch in one of the Houston suburbs this weekend to pick out a pumpkin and get pictures of Lily. They typically have a little more going on out at these "farms" than just the church lawn full of pumpkins here in the city. Corn mazes, games, fun photo ops, etc. But in the end we decided to go to our regular spot here in the city, St. Luke's, after breakfast at Empire. The long drive out to Brookshire or Humble just didn't sound as appealing when we woke up Saturday morning. Lily will appreciate a trip out to one of those pumpkin farms a lot more next year. This year we kept it simple and she had a blast!

Lily has taken a step here and there lately, but last night she took seven in a row! I had the camera going just by chance, because I don't think any of us expected her to bust these moves...

The never-ending update (at least it has pictures)

As I mentioned in my last post, the weeks between Lily turning 10 months and 11 months old were busy, busy. Good thing we took plenty of pictures! So, settle in for my longest post ever.

In mid-September we got to visit with Uncle John and Aunt Diane during their layover here in Houston. They finally got to meet Lily, and the three of them hit it off instantly :)





The the next weekend Granny and Grampy Wood came for a visit!






And the next weekend we went to Marble Falls for my...holy moly..10 year homecoming/dance team reunion! It was so much fun to see everyone again. We all picked up right where we left off. Just like the old days except with alcohol :) The Mustangs won the game and Lily dressed for the occasion...

Mrs. Albright flew all the way back from California to join the fun! Loved seeing her again. It's been over ten years and she looks exactly the same!



A couple of fun updates on Lilypad. We brought one of my old baby dolls home and Lily loves to play with it in her car seat.



She enjoys dropping food on the floor during meal time. I was really hoping to be that lucky mom whose kid skipped this stage.



She has also developed a bad meal time habit! She pushes herself back from the table using her feet then kicks them up while she continues to chow. We're going to need to work on table manners :)



In other meal time news, I'm happy to report that feeding Lily has gotten much better! She eats a variety of veggies, fruits, meats and grains in finger food form. She eats some purees still but she's a pro with the finger foods now. This has actually resulted in more veggies in the house. So yeah for everyone eating more broccoli!

She's making more new sounds all the time. No real words (except mama and dada) but lots of inflection which is just adorable to listen to. She's also started making a clucking sound with her tongue. Equally cute.

Lily is studying books more intently these days. Filping pages, staring at pictures...for a millisecond anyway. I wish I had a picture of this!

Lily also has a big new development to report, but I'm going to give it its own post! Many of you have already seen it on facebook anyhow :)

11 Months Old

Lily turned 11 months old this past Sunday. We have been busy, busy around here. I'm going to write an update post later this week. For now though, I want to get Lily's month marker post up since it's already two days late! She's starting to gesture more these days, and it's pretty darn cute...
